Dining Pavilion

The Dining Pavilion, an extension to an indoor cafeteria at K.J. Somaiya Institute in Mumbai, serves as a link between existing buildings. Situated amidst trees, its platform design seamlessly connects the structures under a translucent roof, harmonizing with neighboring architecture. Multi-wall polycarbonate roofing, suspended from beams, creates a continuous plane above, casting shadows from foliage below. Circular columns support the structure, doubling as light fixtures and seating. This singular detail unifies the project, ensuring the roof appears lightweight and detached from vertical supports. The pavilion’s design fosters connectivity and fluidity, enhancing the campus dining experience while respecting its natural surroundings.
