Creo

Located within a Victorian Gothic building, Creo represents a quest to unearth Mumbai’s indigenous human skills and mechanical resources for its construction. Amidst the city’s ever-changing landscape, where real estate dominates, projects like Creo exemplify the tasks often entrusted to young firms. Unveiling the building’s original architecture required excavation and restoration beneath layers of commercial additions. The design integrates a modular shopping unit snugly into the central space, with a mirrored mezzanine for added display area. This approach yields a striking 4-meter-tall sculptural installation. Leveraging skills from the city’s shipbuilding industry and traditional toy manufacturing, Creo becomes both a functional space and a testament to Mumbai’s latent resources.
