The competition called for a cost and time-effective design that could build Youth Hostel prototypes across the country on a roll out basis while incorporating a local flavour in each one. Our entry was based on the module of a shipping container stacked horizontally to create staggered courtyards at each level. The external fa?ade was to be individualised by having a local stone envelope that allowed for ventilation and became a defining element for each premise.
